Building Engagement with Execution


Session Overview

Throughout history, productivity improvements have focused on work, the process of making it happen. In the last 5+ decades and now with AI, while we have continued to gain in terms of efficiency and productivity, we have missed the focus on the INDIVIDUAL. Despite all the talk of engagement and empowerment, we saw the high attrition levels post- Covid, the emergence of Great Resignation, Quite Quitting, etc.

Humanize Work is an approach that gets the focus back the INDIVIDUAL. We help identify ways of day-to-day execution that help build a sense of belonging, esteem fulfillment (refer Maslow). With decreasing F2F connect time in today’s work environment, an increase in hybrid and gig economy, we recognize the importance of building “Human Moments”, a term defined by Edward Hallowel, an American psychiatrist and a best-selling author. We discuss the use of THANK-TALK-CELEBRATE to build a connected team with positive reinforcement!

Further, technology has reached a level today where it can help the individual to get better at what they do. With relevant feeds in their professional areas of interest at the right time to using Generative AI based assistants/coaching, technology is going a long way to help the INDIVIDUAL get better at what they are doing.

Lean-Agile execution helps build transparency and alignment. People know why they are doing what they doing. One can link Demands from PPM OR Objectives from OKR to the actual EPIC/Task people are working on so that they can realize how impactful their work has been to the organization. Pull-based execution on Kanban Boards help move from a top- down resource assignment approach to a self-driven card ownership mindset delivering far better outcomes!

In this talk, we discuss how an engaged workforce can be built by adopting principles of HumanizeWork coupled with AI and Lean-Agile execution.
